Fenwick Elliott appoints Dr Stacy Sinclair Partner

The Partners of Fenwick Elliott are delighted to announce the promotion of Dr Stacy Sinclair, Head of Technology and Innovation, to Partner. Dr Sinclair’s new role will take effect from 1 October 2020 and will bring the number of Partners in the firm to 23.

Dr Sinclair joined Fenwick Elliott in 2007.  Prior to joining Fenwick Elliott, Dr Sinclair practised as an architect, principally designing large-scale projects such as stadiums, hospitals and education buildings in both the UK and the US. Dr Sinclair’s dual qualification and 10-year experience in the construction provides her with unique expertise, particularly with regards to technical issues.

Over the past 12 years, Dr Sinclair has specialised in both contentious and non-contentious matters, advising clients on issues including non-payment, non-performance, variations, defects and specific construction legislation. She has had a particular interest in the digital transformation of the construction industry, including digital twins, robotics, off-site manufacturing, the Internet of Things, BIM and AI/machine learning.

In September 2019 Dr Sinclair was appointed the firm’s Head of Technology and Innovation; a role in which she is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of new legal technologies, the refinement and enhancement of Fenwick Elliott’s internal tech operations and workflows, as well as collaborating and engaging with clients on new digital initiatives in both the construction and legal industries.

Dr Sinclair comments:

“Fenwick Elliott is committed to providing the best service and the best value for its clients, and recognises that technology, data, collaboration and innovation are essential to deliver this.  I am delighted with the opportunity to lead our extremely exciting initiatives and I very much look forward to working with our clients and the Fenwick Elliott global team.”

Commenting on Dr Sinclair’s promotion, Fenwick Elliott’s Senior Partner Simon Tolson said:

“We are delighted to welcome Stacy as Partner of the firm.  She has made a most significant impact not only in her practice areas but also, over the last 2-3 years, an outstanding commitment by moving our business to a truly digital and legal-tech era. Stacy has taken a significant lead in the development and growth of the firm in that area through new innovation.  Stacy is a vital part in the long-term future of the firm.”
