General experience

Rebecca specialises in the resolution of disputes in the construction, energy and infrastructure sectors, through arbitration and litigation. She has acted for public organisations, employers and contractors in disputes relating to payment, contract formation and interpretation, determination and repudiation, delay, disruption, design, variations, quantification, professional negligence and conflict of laws. She works closely with the client and Counsel for the successful resolution of disputes.

Since joining Fenwick Elliott, Rebecca has assisted with the resolution of claims and disputes in relation to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Crude Oil Pipeline Project. She has acted on complex international arbitrations involving substantial sums in dispute, and has gained experience of many of the recognised sets of arbitration rules and guidelines.

Rebecca’s recent experience includes acting for an international contractor in multi-million pound domestic litigation concerning an industrial plant which involved claims relating to wrongful termination, failure to proceed with due diligence and interference by the Employer.

Career

Rebecca qualified in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. She was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in April 2003.

Before relocating to the UK, Rebecca spent 3 years in practice with Fortune Manning in Auckland, New Zealand, where she gained a broad range of contentious and non-contentious experience in property, finance, insurance and commercial disputes. Rebecca has played a leading role in a number of high profile commercial property transactions. She has also appeared as Counsel in the District and High Courts of New Zealand and has experience of ‘leaky building’ litigation in New Zealand.

Rebecca joined Fenwick Elliott in August 2006 and became an Associate in August 2009.
