General experience

Theresa has experience of commercial litigation, adjudication, commercial construction disputes, ADR, insolvency, ICC arbitration and expert determination.

This experience has ranged from drafting referrals, pleadings, settlement agreements and skeleton arguments, advising on discrete legal issues, applications for payment, mediation, client and case management, research, disclosure, advocacy and attendance at the Technology & Construction Court, the High Court, Chancery Division, Central London County Court, Bankruptcy and regional courts. As part of her role at Fenwick Elliott, Theresa is also familiar with JCT, NEC, re-measurement, bespoke and costs plus contracts.

Career

Theresa graduated with a LLB Hons degree from King’s College London and completed a Masters in Politics during 2004. Theresa embarked on the Bar Vocational Course before being called to the bar at Lincoln’s Inn during 2005. Theresa re-qualified as a solicitor in December 2007.

In addition to her construction experience, Theresa has gained legal experience in finance, commercial law, advanced civil litigation, civil advocacy and academic research and has been asked to judge at moots held by the University of Westminster. Prior to joining Fenwick Elliott in September 2006, Theresa worked at White & Case LLP, shadowed High Court Specialist Advocates in civil and criminal chambers, undertook housing and construction pro-bono cases, acted for clients in civil tribunals and founded an MA Research Forum.

Theresa is a member of the Society of Construction Law.
